Weather forecast

This is a weather forecast of the day I am planning to do my photo shoot on. The weather will be bright and warm which is the ideal weather which I needed to be able to take my images at the highest quality. However if this forecast changes, I will have to re-look at the forecast to decide on a different day to take my images.

Recee - Outside

the ‘recce’

1.    Are there any potential hazards that could pose a health and safety risk where your photo shoot will take place (trailing cables/traffic/other objects )?
There could potentially be fallen branches from trees on the floor, or other nature around. Also depending on the weather, more risks could be developed or made worse. Such as mud could develop and the shoot might not be to take place. Rain could ruin he models look, prevent locations being available and the camera equipment could get broken. Also if it is very windy outside. camera equipment could get blown over and it could disrupt the model and the look i am trying to achieve
2.    What will you do to ensure these risks are minimised?
I will make sure to keep watch on the location and how surrounding objects such as branches and other nature reserves could cause a problem to myself or my model. If a problem arises I will try my best to overcome the problem so II can continue with the photo shoot. I will also check the weather forecast daily for a time when I would be able to take my photographs.
3.    Will the time of day/weather affect the outcome of the photos? Have you allowed for this?
Yes as I will need to take the photographs during the day time, on a sunny day day. As rain or strong wind would ruin my models look and the location may not be suitable to get to. If this happens I will have to reschedule the day to take photographs with my model.
4.    Have you considered the background to your photos, particularly if taken outside? How will you ensure you will get the background you want?
I will be trying to get wide backgrounds, getting in a lot of the background as i think this will make the images more interesting and make more relevant to some of the clothing choices. I will try a lot of different camera angles to try and get the background in which I want and i will have a range of photographs to choose from.
5.    Have you considered lighting? What about the ‘problems’ of natural lighting, either outside, or streaming through a window? Will you need to use a flash? Have you considered reflective objects that might spoil the effect? The lighting will be natural as I will be outside. Lighting may only be a problem if it is dark and misty as this is not the effect I want on my photographs.
6.    Do you need permission to take photos in the place/venue you have in mind?
No I don't.
7.    Do you need to book time in a room (eg the photography studio at Shiney)?
No I don't.
8.    Are other people/crowds likely to be an issue for you? What have you done to ensure that it will not spoil the effect?
This is possible as I will be working in a public place, but I will be patient and wait until the area is clear so I can take my photographs.
9.    Are you reliant on lifts/props/friends’ equipment/models? How have you planned that these things will come together at the appointed time? Plan B?
I will need models but I have all of my own equipment and I am able to get to the locations easily on foot. I have spoken with my models to assure a time and place of the photo shoot so everything is planned out. My plan B would simply be to arrange another time to do the photo shoot with my model.

10. Finally, have you thought of every eventuality…?
Yes i have thought of every possible outcome, both bad and good, and I have a solution for both, to be able to continue with my work.

Magazine cover deconstruction

I could tell that this magazine was fashion because of the choice of clothing. The model is very bold on this cover and stand out from the background. By using a bright red dress and red lipstick, this indicates love and lust. I also like how the colours from the model connect with the colours chosen for the text, this makes the page a lot easier to look at and understand. The bright lighting also indicates the fashion genre as they are used to light up the models make up and clothing, so they are very eye catching as this is what the audience notices first. Also the choice of the pugs around the image such as '412+ best pieces: shoes! dresses! bags! ' this appeals to a female audience straight away as this is what you would expect to see in a fashion magazine and females are mostly wanting to know and read about the latest fashion and tips for themselves.

Blog feedback from class

I agree with all of the feedback I received from my class. I will take all of the improvements into consideration to improve my blog and my work. Overall I got a lot of positive feedback about the detail in my work. By getting feedback from my class has helped me a lot with what other people think that i need to improve on as I thought i'd done enough.

Magazine cover deconstruction

I can tell that this magazine was a fashion magazine straight away. The use of colours stands out a lot as they aren't the usual colours that you wouldn't put together on the front of a magazine. Using pale pinks and greens with a pale model, works on this specific front page. Also the choice of pugs on the front cover such as '574 pages of show-stopping spring fashion' this straight away jumps out at the audience and tells them that there is a lot of pages about a certain season fashion, which they could get tips and advice from. Moreover, using a very popular artist whose clothing took over the world on the front of a fashion magazine is the best way to get attention. As Lady Gaga is known for her weird and wonderful outfits, audiences will wonder and want to know if she's done anything crazy lately and want to see more of her outfits. Bright lighting is essential on a front cover as this shows all the aspects clearly, from the hair and makeup, to the clothing choices.

Magazine cover deconstruction

Also i know that this magazine is fashion because of the choice of text which has been used on the front cover. Text such as '606 pages of spring looks' this indicates that there will be a lot of pages to do with fashion inside. Also by using Adele who is a famous well known singer, who is also looked at for her fashion, draws in a lot more attention from readers who are up to date with celebrity gossip. Also Adele isn't like the usual size 0 model you would see on the front of any fashion magazine, as of this, it will appeal more to young girls who aspire to not get inspiration from underweight woman, just to look and feel good. The lighting on this photograph also is showing off the clothing, hair and makeup which also is another symbolisation of the magazine being aimed around fashion and makeup which will appeal more to females.

billboard recreation

I have chosen to recreate this fashion billboard as it's very simple and only contains one image and one part of text, all on a white background. Even though this billboard doesn't contain much, it is still very eye catching and interesting because of how it only needs to use 'Stuart Weitzman' for people to know what the billboard is advertising.

This is my recreation of the billboard above. I think the idea of keeping the image black and white works well with the background being white and using the small part of black text. As if this image was in color i think it would look too much and take over the text which is limited and the audience will automatically read it. This billboard was easy to recreate, even thought my models pose isn't exactly the same as the original billboard. For my product i will be creating, i will take inspiration from these kind of billboards as i think the idea of not having much showing catches attention of the audiences and makes them ask themselves question and maybe want to visit the website to find out more information about the magazine and website.
I decided to change the pose, as i wasn't that happy with all the empty space beneath the text. I found the way i took the photograph worked well.

website flatplan and rational

Front page - The front page will consist of images of models in high street fashion. There will also be an advertisement to do with fashion underneath these images. The logo will be in the top left corner, and will be bold and black text. The hyperlinked page names will be in black and the shade will change to pink when the user in located on that specific page. I will use both Arial font as it is simple and clean but I will also interpret a fancy, sophisticated font which will bring out the aspect of fashion. The light of the images on this page will mostly all be in high key, as this way the fashion will be lit up and clearly seen. The camera angles will be quite simple, with the model look directly into the camera most of the time. However they will alternate between full size shots, medium shots and close up shots. The costume will be all high-street fashion, and things the usual target audience of young females would be interested in wearing. The mise en scene of my images will mostly not be much, as photographs took in the studio will have a plain all white background, as this makes the clothing and model stand out a lot more. However I will be taking some photographs on location, which means there will be trees and nature in the background.
Fashion page - The logo and page names will be the same as the home page. I will include images of fashion garments with prices and tip on how to wear them as this is what the audience will be interested in as they will have viewed the magazine or billboard first. Under this i will then add in images of accessorises, with prices and ideas of how to wear them. The fonts of this page will carry on from the home page and be exactly the same to make the website flow. The lighting and mise en scene will also be the same on this page. The camera angles and shot types will stay the same on this page as it is focusing even more on the fashion side of the website. The costume will stick to high-street fashion based clothing as this is what genre of fashion my magazine is about, and also this area is what my target audience will mostly want to see.

Fashion page - The title and page names will stay the same, to create a house style. This page will feature information about the latest fashion which has been released. Models will be used wearing high street fashion, and also use of celebrities. I will add parts of text to explain some of the photographs. I will also add a chance to win competitions, and add photos and text with them.

Contact Page -
This page will consist of the address and phone number details of the company if customers want to send anything to them. This page also gives the customer the chance to subscribe to the magazine, and it is a very simple few things to fill in. I will keep the same background colour of light pink and make sure the text is clear and understandable.

Billboard and magazine flatplans - rationals

Billboard

This is the initial flat plan for my billboard. This will be quite a simple layout as this advertisement is more for visual advertisement rather than having to read text to find out information. Therefore by using one big image it will draw in more attention from my target audience.
The main colour of the billboard will be white and black, as the main image will be black and white, and a location shot which will make the billboard more interesting as it will just have one part of text on it. The small amount of text will be white, showing the magazine logo. By doing this, the text will stand out incredibly as the only other thing to grab attention will be the image of the model. I will locate the text in the centre of the space where the model isn't. I will experiment with using a black box with a low opacity along the middle of the image, which will make the white text stand out a lot more. I will also add smaller text in a shade of pink or white under the main title, stating the website address, and to go there for more information. The image used will be mainly about the clothing, and to make sure that the clothing will stand out, I will make sure that the model is not taken over by the background of the location choice. I would maybe consider making a small part of the image pink, which will link in with my other products as my main color scheme is shades of pink as it is feline and works with my target audience.

Magazine front cover,  contents page and double page spread

This is my initial idea for the layout of my front cover. I have decided to include a range of conventions which i think will help a lot with appealing and attracting my target audience.
All of the cover lines will be in different shades of pink and black, to break up using mainly one colour. The cover lines will fit nicely around the main images and will all differ in size to make it look interesting. I will also keep to the same font as this will look more professional and make sure the font page doesn't look too busy or messy.
I will add the price of the magazine on clear display as the audience needs to be aware of this.
I am planning on making the masthead very large so it spreads across the full length of the top of the page. I will add a website address in small text in the bottom left corner, so readers know where to go to find more information or make a subscription. The pugs will be short and snappy so they are appealing and make readers want to carry on reader into the magazine. Also by using shades of pink, this straight away draws in my target audience of young females, as pink is seen to be a feminine colour. I will also have to take great care with how much information i put on the front cover, as i need enough to draw in audiences but too much will take the look from the main image and will make the page look messy and put audiences off reading it. The language I will use with be suitable for my audience, and will attract them to my magazine as it won't be formally wrote but I will use snappy words which relate a lot to fashion and gossip. For my model for the main image I will make her wear a brightly coloured dress which would fit in with the genre of high street fashion and I will also consider using accessories such as jewelry or sunglasses which I think will work well with my genre. The mise-en-scene will be very simple and I am most likely to use a photography studio to take this image as I want a white background which will work better when I add in cover lines to my page. I will use a canon camera, as they are very high quality and I need high quality so my magazine looks professional and like real media products. I will use the same camera for both studio photographs and location photographs. The camera will link up with the lights, which will be set to shoot high key, in the studio to make sure the model is bright and the background is white.

The masthead on this page will be in the same font as my title on my front cover as this will start off a good unique selling point for my products as this is what audiences will recognise. I will also add in a strong main image to carry on the fashion genre and to keep the audience interested as using too much text on a page puts readers off. I will use the layout of having two sections showing both the pages of the cover lines and features. I will put the numbers of each page in a pink circle at the end of each new title, and I will make sure they all perfectly line up to keep my page looking professional. I will use black low opacity boxes for each of my subheading, which I will then use pink text on top of stating 'Cover Lines' and 'Features' This will jump out straight away to my audience and the page easy to understand. I will make the font of the main body text very plain and simple, and use the colour black to make it stand out on the white background. I will make the body text fit around my chosen image, and make sure they are spaced out evenly. I will experiment with using more text under each page title to give a small bit of information about what will be seen on that specific page(s). If I go along with doing this, then I think this text will be pink, to keep the house style flowing and keeping all of my products linking together. I will use informal language on this page, as I need it to appeal to my target audience of teenaged females, which want to read text that seems exiting and making them want to read on. I will chose high street clothing for this image used on this page, to keep the theme of my main genre. I will have to position the model on her side, so it fits well within the page and how I want the layout to look with the text added. The mew-en-scene will be a simple white background as the photograph will be taken in a photography studio. I will use a high quality cannon camera to take my photographs, as this will link up with the lighting used in the studio. I will use high key lighting for this shoot as I need the model to stand out, and especially the clothing used. By using high key lighting this means that the background will be bright white, which will make it easier to place the image and over lay text.

This is my design for my double page spread. For the left hand page I plan to insert a large image, taking up the full page, strongly showing the fashion aspect. I will also add a masthead on the right hand page of the name of the main article, using the same font as the other pages, to keep the magazine flowing. On this page I will also add a pull quote over the top of the image on the left hand side to draw in the audiences attention straight away, as readers automatically look at the left page first. I will also include the name of the model, who done the photography, hair and makeup in the gutter, this will be very small but audiences may be interested in knowing this. The model in the image will also be the person whom the article is about, this will make more sense to the reader. I want to have a black and white portrait on the left hand side and a coloured image on the right hand side. I will make sure to lower the opacity a lot to make sure that the main body of text will still be readable. I have chosen to do this as my main pull quote will be 'Stop being black and white, add some colour to your life', and this is what the different images will show. I will create a box at the top of the left hand page which will be a very light pink, and I will put the title of my article 'NEW YEAR, NEW ME', in this box to make it stand out from the page. I will use simple clear fonts on this page as I want it to be readable and understandable for all readers. I will include an introduction of text which will spread across the full left page, and I will make this italics, to make it stand out and show that it is an introduction to what the following article will be able. My main body of text will be an interview with the model shown on the page about a famous fashion designer from the North East of england as this will keep my magazine regional. I will layout the text into three columns with the pull quote in the middle of the centre column. I will add in more italic text at the end of the interview to show that it is a concluding paragraph, and it will state a website to find more information on which will be pink to make it stand out and work with my theme. The clothing of my model will be high street clothing, and I will make sure that the clothing of the model is bright, as the models clothing line will be called 'bright and beautiful' The lighting will be high key to make the model bright and clear so audiences can see the clothing, hair and make up being used. I will take these photographs in the studio which will make the backgrounds white, which will work well. I will use a high quality cannon camera for this shoot to make sure my images are very strong, as this is my main page which will get my audience intrigued.

_________________________________________________________________________________

I will use mainly the same few fonts on every page, to make it flow and make it look professional. The lighting of all the images in both the magazine and on the billboard will be high key, and the lighting is essential to light up the model and the clothing that they are wearing which is what will appeal to my target audience. The costume will be high street fashion garments, as this is the fashion genre my products are based around. Also these are the clothes which are best suited to my young female target audience who shop in high street shops on a daily basis. There wont be much mise en scene as most of my photographs will be taken in a studio, where the background will be purely white, to make the model and their clothing stand out a lot more, and make the images in my magazine pop. However I will do a shoot on location as I may use a few different photographs with interesting background, such as in a forest, with a lot of trees and nature in the background.

confirmation for my photographs

These are screenshots showing that I asked my friend to be the model in my photographs in which I'm going to use in my media products. I gave her all the information that she needed and made sure she understood what was going to happen on the day of the shoot.
